Tari furrowed her brow, she still laid on her back on th eh round for now. But she still held Sofia close. Somebody would literally have to use a crowbar to pry her out of her arms. She could feel the poor thing shaking and it got to her.

“ like you were doing something wrong?...” she hesitantly ventured. “...I could see that. But Sof...it’s Okay, it’s over now and we learnt from it, that’s all that matters is that we learn from our mistakes. And no, I didn’t know that, but now I do thanks to Marco. To think I’d hear it from him of all people...seriously though I wished Sheridan installed that knowledge into me when he decided to make me. “ she murmured.

She rolled her eyes.

“ woulda made things a whole lot easier that’s for sure “she grumbled.

i might have to take another break from this one, just for a little while ;v; )

"It'll be alright, Tari. I'm going with you," Skye soothed. "You just have to lie down on the lil cot here, can you do that for me...?"

She tilted her head in Tari's direction.

"I'll be with you the whole time. I swear."

Tari kept her brows furrowed as she listened only to hesitantly nod.

Okay...as ...as long as you’re there.

It was like Skye was her guardian Angel in a weird alien world she had no idea what was happening in.

“ O-Okay....O-Okay...” Tari murmured, she was placing all of her trust into Skye right now.

The nurse laid their hand on Tari’s shoulder.

Tari in turn, slowly and hesitantly let go of Skye, her eyes on the owl the entire time as the nurse picked her up and laid her on the cot.

Tari eventually was laid down on the stretcher, her panicked eyes didn’t leave Skye’s. She looked like a lost and scared child almost.

Skye reached out and held Tari's hand to reassure her.

Theo walked in the door a moment later, eyes widening at the sight of the paramedics.

"M-mom?" he called, glancing over at her.

"Stay with Neo, alright?" Skye told him. "I'm gonna keep you two updated, okay...?"

He nodded, then stood by his brother.

Tari grabbed a hold of Skye’s hand for a moment. Seeming to calm down as she did. Then she caught sight of Theo and went wide eyed, almost as if shes seen a ghost. Her face pale.

“ T-Theo?!” She gasped.

Oh crackerjack—-s-since when did he get so tall?!

Tari was having trouble processing the rather...tall and very real Theo.

Neo gave Theo a beaming smile, or...tried to.

“ hey Theo! Er—-moms um—-moms kinda sick...” he told, voice filled with concern.

Theo heard her and glanced over in her direction, blue eyes sparkling.

"H-hey, mom!" he called, waving shakily. He turned to his brother. "I-I know, Neo."

Skye breathed a sigh. "Will you two be okay...?"

Theo nodded.

Neo shifted his weight and glanced at the ground, brows furrowed. But he nodded. He wasn’t sure what was going on, but he didn’t like it, he always had this sixth sense feeling—and something was wrong.

Tari’s eyes were the size of saucers.

Mom?! Even Theo calls me mom?!

She waved back to Theo, hesitantly but smiled regardless. Theo was the only familiar face she knew here. Aside from being—a damn adult now.

Oh Cracker Jack wait till Belle hears about this—

The Nurse laid a gentle hand on Tari’s shoulder then looked at Skye.

“ we need to get going..” they instructed.

Skye nodded, acknowledging them.

"Alright, I don't wanna waste any more time," she replied. "Let's go."

She turned to leave, and Theo watched her go, folding his arms.

( Le skip? At the hospital or when Tari is back home with Skye after the hospital visit? .,. )

The nurse nodded and started rolling Tari out, their team following with them.


Neo frowned and looked up at Theo.

“ You think it’s gonna be okay..? “ he asked, tone filled with concern and fear.

"I dunno," Theo shrugged. "But... I really hope so. We've had so many scares over the years, I just... can't help wondering which one is gonna be the..."

He trailed off. Neo didn't need the negativity.

"...You know what...? Yeah, I think... I think she'll be okay."

Neo frowned for a bit, only to weakly beam up at his big brother. Nodding.

I hope so too Theo..we’ve had enough chaos...all of us.

“ okay. Wanna play some Mario Kart? “ he offered, he can study later.

Theo smiled.

"Absolutely. It's been ages but I think I can still play pretty well," he giggled. "Go fire up the console, I'll get some snacks."

He darted off.

"Hey, have the birds been fed?"

Neo beamed only to blink and think on it.

“ Uhhh yeah! Mom always does that In the mornings! We’re good! Ahaha! Let’s a go!” He beamed and darted off to get the console set up.

Tari had been back after half a week, the doctors found nothing wrong with her brain, other than overstimulation and possible memory lapse. But other than that she was...healthy.  

Though the doctors did suggest to Skye to put her into a mental hospital if, these weird episodes continue.


Tari was now currently still...panicking. She was standing in the bathroom at ‘ their ‘ apartment staring at her reflection. Just...studying herself.

She’s noticed dull and aged scars on her face. And that she had a ring, and dull scars on her back. She could tell that her brain felt....weaker...heavier...like....like she’s been through utter hell. And had so much trauma still lugging around.

Tari furrowed her brows and her expression showed of sympathy.

“ What happened to us..?” she murmured to herself, her voice full of sorrow and self pity. Wondering on what could’ve possibly happened.

A moments of silence passed as she sighed.

Tari screamed bloody murder and fell back into the wall of the closet in the bathroom.

“ WHO THE HELL ARE YOU—“ Tari screamed in fear.

Skye overheard the scream and darted over to the bathroom.

"Tari?!" she called. "Tari, I'm out here, are you okay?"

She knocked on the doorframe.

Tari’s breathing turned into rapid hyperventilating, she was still on her back on the floor. Thankfully the door was unlocked so Skye could easily get in.

Her eyes darted over at Skye’s voice.

“ NO; THERES A DEMON IN MY HEAD! “ she called/ whined.

D E M O N?! why you intrusive, invasive, impostor of a pest!

Tari screamed again and held her head.

“ ITS TALKING TO ME MAKE IT STOP, AND YES I SAID DEMON. SKYE-“ Tari whined.

No don’t call her, she’s not yours anyways! AND HOW DARE YOU.

Skye opened the door.

"I know, baby, I know," she sighed. "I remember. We've beat her before... we can beat her again."

She knelt down beside her, looping an arm under Tari's back.

"Just focus on me for now. Just listen to me. Not her."

Tari whined and made eye contact with Skye, the arm around her back helped ground her. Only to go wide eyed.

“ Her?! oh so it has a gender?! You mean I’ve had this thing in my head for who knows how long?! “ she gasped.

WHY YOU LITTLE—HOW FUCKING DARE YOU.

“ oh I dare! Look you demon, I’ve had enough with people in my head! Lucinia was the exception, but I’m not messing with this supernatural stuff! God Belle was right, supernatural demon stuff Is freaky “ Tari whimpered and hid her face in Skye’s clothing.

YOU—OH THATS IT, TAKE IT BACK. OR I’LL REALLY BE A DEMON AND POSSESS YOU AND TELL SKYE WHAT THE HELLS GOING ON.

Tari just whined and placed a hand on her head. Eyes squeezed shut.

"Shhhh," Skye soothed. "Don't listen to her; don't talk to her. Understand?"

She gently lifted Tari off the floor and brought her into a hug.

I still don't understand why she doesn't remember me. This has... never happened before. Not even after the warps. I don't... I don't understand...

Tari whimpered and hid herself in Skye’s arms. A wave of comfort washed over her as she did. Skye’s perfume smell also helped too, causing her to calm further.

“ O-Okay...” she whimpered.

She..she smells nice. It’s...it’s really calming actually.....m-maybe this isn’t so bad?...

She snuggled further into Skye, feeling that clinginess return full throttle. And usually she wouldn’t—be so clingy with a stranger..but Skye happened to be a special case.

Her breathing calmed down as she continued to take whiffs of Skye’s perfume.


y-yeah..it—it’s not too bad....she..she feels, Safe I dunno how to describe it.
Oh no you don’t! She’s not yours and you fucking know it! You’ve screwed everything up, don’t go getting attached, you know you don’t belong here!

Tari whined and squeezed her eyes shut, trying to ignore it.

“ just leave me alone! She’s the only safe space I have right now, I know I don’t!” She argued. Unlike her counter part, she wasn’t used to Cardinal and or talking to her in her head.

* growls *

Skye was wearing a different flannel now, one of her softer, thicker ones.

"Shhhh, babe, don't talk to her. Talk to me," she murmured. "Okay? She's gonna say a million and three awful things to you and hurl insults as much as she can... just don't give her attention."

She gently rubbed Tari's back, making sure to leave her scars untouched.

"It's gonna be okay. You just have to ignore her and focus on me."

Tari was currently wearing her white tank top and Tascorp pants. Nothing too special.

She furrowed her brows but the back rubs helped. She buried her face into Skye’s flannel and sighed softly.

“ okay....I can’t believe I’ve had something like this in my head for years on end.....wonder what else We’ve been through. “ she murmured, sympathy clear in tone.

Cardinal however, was starting to get fed up. Neither of them were getting the hint, so she took it upon herself to fix things. She’d wait just a little longer to strike.

Despite Skye's slight frame, the flannel helped her stay warm, so Tari would likely notice the raised temperature.

"Don't worry, babe," she soothed, still rubbing Tari's back. "We've had years of experience, so... I know what to do. We're gonna figure this out."

Tari frowned then nodded. Sadly she knew nothing of Skye’s body problems, but she did feel the warmth which she greatly appreciated. She snuggled even further into the owl.

“ Okay, at least one of us does, I trust you...heh, you sound like Belle when you say ‘ babe ‘. You smell nice too “ she smiled weakly.


Then suddenly a white hot iron sharp pain shot through her brain causing her eyes to snap open and for her to squeeze them shut just as fast and scream bloody murder.

She reached up and dug her hands into her hair. Screaming non stop.

“ IT HURTS—S-SKYE—WHATS HAPPENING?” Tari whined as she scrunched up into a ball.

Skye held Tari tighter, cupping the back of Tari's head to soothe her.

"It's Cardinal. That program in your head. It's her fault," she explained. "Just hold onto me... it'll pass... it'll pass."

She closed her eyes and sighed through her nose.

Tari furrowed her brows and grunted in ungodly pain. Skye’s gentle hand did give her a sense of comfort. It....it was so gentle for someone she’s never met.

She buried herself in Skye’s arms as her hands darted to the owls clothing and gripped tightly.

A program was responsible for this much pain?! She’s never felt anything like it before. And it’s name was Cardinal. It’s a name that just screams death. What a horrible entity. And it exists in her brain. She couldn’t believe it.



“ It’s horrible! “ Tari wailed as she tried to focus on Skye.

Skye cradled the bluejay protectively.

"I know it is, baby," she whispered. "But it's only temporary... I promise."

She rubbed Tari's back and breathed a soft sigh.
